Coach Etiquette on Match Day

  • Coaches not only represent their team on match day, they represent the club as a whole.

  • Therefore it is imperative that coaches, especially new coaches, are aware that encroaching on the playing field is viewed poorly.

  • A coach is permitted to be on the playing field before and after every game, however once the game has kicked off a coach should restrict his or her movements to the touchline. Entering the field of play to give instructions to players is unnecessary and can cause issues with the opposing club.  A coach should remain on the touchline with their substitutes and give calm, positive reinforcement to their charges.

Match card

  • A match card is required to be filled out by each team coach for every match and left in the box in the Club Room.

  • Match card requirements:

  • All players' names must be legible, and written in black or blue ball point pen only.

  • All players' full names must be written.

  •  Only players who play in the match are to be entered on the match card.

  • If a player from a younger age-group plays 'up' in your team, their regular team must be entered next to their name on the match card.

  • For competitive teams (12's and older), each player must have their FFA number entered on the match card.

  • Working With Children Check

  • All coaches need to have a Working With Children Check number, which must be submitted to Blackheath FC for verification.

  • Volunteer WWC checks are free of charge. Get your WWCC Here
