Blackheath FC, Lithgow Workies, Thistle FC, Lithgow City Rangers

 FAQ'S FOR BLACKHEATH FC IN THE LITHGOW 

DISTRICT FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION COMPETITON.


MY CHILD IS SIGNED UP FOR THE NEW LDFA SEASON.

WHAT FOOTBALL GEAR DO WE NEED?

On Matchday, full Blackheath FC playing kit of Shirt, Shorts, Socks, Football Boots 

and Shin Pads must be worn by all players.


No jewellery including earrings, necklaces, watches, nor any 

hats or caps are allowed to be worn.


DO WE HAVE TO GO TO TRAINING?

Yes, training is an essential element of your child's participation and enjoyment 

of the game and their team. Children are encouraged to attend training each

week to build a rapport with their coach and team mates, 

and begin their understanding of the game. 


WHEN IS TRAINING ON?

6s Gold - Thursday 3:30 - 4:30pm with Coach Sarah

6s Green - Thursday 3:30 - 4.30pm with Coach Wendy

7s Gold - Monday 3:30pm - 4:30pm with Coach Tom

7s Green - Wednesday 3:30 - 4:30pm with Coach Jack

8s - Wednesday 3:30pm - 4:30pm with Coach Marco

9s - Friday 3:30 - 4:30pm with Coach Andrew

10s - Thursday 3:30 - 4:30pm with Coach Rosie

12s - Tuesday 4:15 - 5:15pm with Coach Melissa

14s - Two Sessions: 

Monday & Wednesday 4:15 - 5:45pm with Coach Kristian


CAN WE BRING A FRIEND TO JOIN IN WITH TRAINING?

No, only children registered with Blackheath FC can participate in training. 

Friends of players on the team are not encouraged to join in training. 


IS THERE A TRAINING KIT?

Training gear is available through our club shop. Go to the BFC Merch online store.


Full match day kit is not necessary for training however football boots, shin pads 

and football socks are recommended. The boots, shin pads and socks 

combination can feel a bit clunky for some children, so the more they 

use them, the easier it gets.


WHAT HAPPENS ON MATCH DAY?

Players should arrive at the Marjorie Jackson Playing Fields in Lithgow 30 minutes before kick off 

so your child is ready to play and their name has been added to the match card. 

This also gives the team time to warm up, practice some shooting and receive
 last minute encouragement from their coach.

CAN WE WATCH FROM THE SIDELINE? 
Yes, you can but . . .

WHAT HAPPENS IN WET WEATHER? 

Lithgow District Football Association football matches are played during the winter months, 

so wet weather conditions can be common. Matches are only cancelled if 
the ground is closed by Lithgow City Council or conditions are deemed dangerous for players.

Cancelled matches are very rare, but it's a good idea to create a Whats App Group Chat 
with your child's coach so messages  can be easily passed on regards the 
weather conditions ahead of training and match days.

Radio station 2LT (101FM) will make an announcement on Saturday mornings at the
 start of the 'Sports Show' just after the 8am news if matches have been cancelled.

DO WE NEED TO REGISTER FOR MINIROOS?
Yes, you do.

WHEN IS MINIROOS TAKING PLACE?
MiniRoo's Kick Off will be held every Wednesday afternoon during School Term 2.
Blackheath Oval  3:30pm - 4:15pm

HOW MUCH DOES MINIROOS COST?
There's a $35 registration fee.

DO WE NEED BOOTS FOR MINIROOS?
Your child will need football boots, shin pads and football socks.
You can buy Blackheath FC football socks here 

MY CHILD IS 6. 
SHOULD THEY REGISTER FOR MINIROOS KICK OFF OR THE LDFA COMPETITION?
Your child can sign up for U6 football or MiniRoos. It's up to you. 

WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN U6 FOOTBALL AND MINIROOS KICK OFF?
U6 Football involves a weekly training session at Blackheath Oval and a weekly game 
at Lithgow versus other clubs. Whereas, MiniRoos Kick Off is Wednesday afternoons only
 in School Term 2, with no game at the weekend.


BLACKHEATH FC & THE ALL AGES 7 - A - SIDE 
WHEN IS THE SENIOR MIXED 7-A-SIDE SOCIAL COMP STARTING?
Unfortunately, due to a lack of player registrations, the Mixed, 7-a-side Social Comp
is not going ahead this season.

BLACKHEATH FC PLAY IN THE LDFA
AT MARJORIE JACKSON PLAYING FIELDS
Sandford Avenue, Lithgow - see map below.
On Saturday mornings, allow travel time from Blackheath of 30 - 40 minutes. 
Players are encouraged to arrive 30 minutes ahead of their kick off time.

Marjorie Jackson Oval is an alcohol and smoke-free zone.
